Matt Brown of Marketing

I believe when reading an interview; you should be able to grab something out of it. Something likes a lesson, an advice, something which will guide you on your success journey. That is why when looking for people to interview, I search and choose those who can pass on some experience or lesson they learnt most probably the hard way.
Here is Matt, a 23 year old young entrepreneur, who quit his 9-5 job to make it online, like many of us do and are still trying to do. He talks about how he started his business idea and how he learnt from his mistakes.

Hi Matt, can we know more about you?

My name is Matt Brown, I am 23.  I have lived a different life you could say…I played professional paintball for 4 years which was one of the greatest experiences of my life.  I was able to travel and do something that I love, but unfortunately the pay sucked!  I still had to keep a part time job and with me being gone 2-3 weeks every month, it was tough, really tough to make end meets.  So I had to quit and here I am today.

Please do introduce us to your business idea?

My business on the internet is helping others, whether you are in a MLM or looking to start up a business from home, I can guide you in the right path.  Leveraging the power of the internet is new to a lot of people and when you first start you can’t help but feel overwhelmed.  It’s a tough road to be your own boss, but it can be done, there really are no reasons why you cannot be successful on the internet.  There are a ton of marketing platforms out there, all claiming to be the next best thing, sure maybe they are, but it’s a long and dark road, why not bring some company?

Where did the idea come from?

The idea came from Jay Kubbassek; he realized that working 40 hours a week only puts you in debt.  There are solutions out there; you don’t need to do the 40/40 rule anymore.  40 hours a week for 40 years of your life.  You only come out in debt, the internet works for you 24/7, and you need to learn how to leverage the specific components of the internet to help you.

Most important business lesson you learned?

The most important this I have learned is perseverance.  Long distance runners have the preferable”wall” and so does running a home business.  You are going to hit the “wall” and you are going to want to stop, but you have to keep in fighting through it.  This is where most people fail; you aren’t going to succeed if you give up after a couple weeks.  It take 10 000 hours to master ANYTHING.  It may seem what you’re doing is getting you nowhere; you may seem at a standstill, you must follow your marketing campaign that you set up and keep on it.

Biggest mistakes you ever made in business.

The biggest mistake I have made is listening to my friends and parents.   As rough as that may sound, hear me out.  Your parents have never even heard of the idea of making money online, the internet is still brand new to them.  They have the old way of thinking; you must graduate school, go to university and get a job.  I use to think this was the only way, ITS NOT.  I listened to my broke friends who would work 40 hours a week and still not come on top, they had no idea what they were talking about, they only use the internet for facebook and email, they have no idea how to monetize the internet, why was I listening to them?  I live in Alberta, the trades here are massive and they pay you $20/hour to start, how can you still come out broke?  That was my wake up call.  I started taking real advice from established businessmen/women in the industry; I took my advice from qualified individuals finally.

Long term plans you have in mind?

My long term plans is to continue what I’m doing.  I want to take people, young and old and show them how powerful the internet really is.  Brick and Mortar business are the recipe for debt; there are ways around living your life in debt.  I want to help people realize this.  I’m working hard so others don’t have to.
