I was opportuned to interview John Sreelaj a wonderful young entrepreneur from India this morning, who is currently working on iDuple a web desktop which has the potential to be a part of everyone’s daily life.

Martin: Hi John,
Thanks for accepting my invitation.

Sreelaj John @ iDuple: Sure No problem
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: Nice to meet you

Martin: Can you tell us how your business journey started?

Sreelaj John @ iDuple: Sure, I am a computer engineer by qualification
and i have worked with ABN AMRO, NL, as part of their Internet Banking division in Amsterdam
As you would know, huge desktop like apps like, youtube, google docs etc started to appear around the first half of this decade
And even after being a computer engineer, i spend most of my time inside a browser
which, started me thinking, why can’t we have everything running out of a browser…of course there are technolgy and bandwidth constraints, but the concept seemed nice to talk about and very ambitious
That was the beginning, I would say, technology breakthroughs like, cloud computing, real time technologies etc, evolved as the idea matured
Martin: Thats an impressive resumé, for someone in his early 20’s. Do you believe to be an ideal personality which young entrepreneurs may look upto ?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: i would certainly like to be one :)
The truth is, there are a lot like us, extremely intelligent and passionate around us
Martin: Many entrepreneurs say passion drives them on, so what do you think is your main driving force?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: passion is needed, otherwise one would end up doing everything for money in my opinion, passion is needed to build something extraordinary or something new, but for any business to succeed, a working business model is required as well
Martin: So what are your business principles and plans ?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: iDuple wants to be an extraordinary player and a product company in simple words. This was clear from the very beginning. We wanted to be experts in design and technology. And the product we have developed, iDuple webtop, is an amazing combination of both art and technology
and when we talk about business values, privacy/confidentiality of a user/client, is very important for us.And we want to cultivate a culture that promote integrity and accountability in our business deals.

Martin: So put in simple words, what is iDuple and what do you see it becoming in the next few years?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: iDuple is an application that has the potential to be part of everyones’ daily life. We even have a campaign that says “Morning coffee is damn important to people. iDuple is competing with that” .
I would love to see that happening in the next few years. And we are investing so much in building a user interface that is beautiful. People are going to spend a lot of their time inside iDuple, we want our users to be extremely comfortable
Martin: I tried the demo and it was pretty cool so who do you particurlarly aim to as the primary iDuple users?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: This is a platform that can function very well as a collaboration tool. It is easy to use, we have specific productivity tools designed for people working infront of a computer the whole day. The public version , I would say, is great for those who work on multiple devices/computers.
iDuple drive infact completely replaces a flash drive. Store your files/docs in the cloud and it is accessable from any device/computer

Martin: So you would be up agiainst the top dogs such as Google and Apple? What advice do you have for all the young entrepreneurs out there about pursuing their dreams?
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: yes very much. Google and Apple are definitely our competitors. Although our target market is not so wide, yet
and my 2 cents would be following one’s dreams seems to be the only sane thing to do :)

Martin: Thanks a lot John for granting us so much time in your busy schedule for an upcoming blog which will serve as a resource for young and aspiring kid entrepreneurs.
Sreelaj John @ iDuple: Sure Martin, good luck with your venture. Keep me in your mailing list
